Pittsburgh Pirates vs Baltimore Orioles Prediction & Picks - MLB

Game two of the three-game set between the Pittsburgh Pirates (4-3) and the Baltimore Orioles (3-4) is set for this afternoon. The Pirates took game one yesterday by the score of 5-4. They jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the 2nd inning and tacked on an important insurance run in the 5th that ultimately was the difference. This 2nd game of the series is set to be another closely contested match, with the money line being set at -110 for each.

These two teams have seen their fair share of runs over their last couple of games each. The Orioles, over their last 5 games, have seen an average total of 10.8 runs per game. The Pirates have seen a similar average of 10.3 over their last 3 games. Today, each team is sending a starting pitcher out who does not have a strong ERA. Shane Baez of the Orioles is currently at 6.75, and Carmen Mlodzinski is at 4.15. Neither pitcher factored into the decision in their previous start, but that is not going to be a concern for us in this game. We will be focused on total runs in this one.

If either team can get to one of these starters early, it could balloon the over quickly. Neither bullpen has looked tremendously strong early in the season, so if either team calls in early, it should not be to the detriment of the play here.
