The Orioles' late bullpen stepped up in Friday's game, with Kittedge earning the win by striking out two in one inning of action and Alex Hope getting the save. Alexander, who has played every position defensively, led off and went 1-for-5; in 226 at-bats, he's batting a high .310 this season.
For the Athletics, Heam hit a solo home run; Butler had an RBI single, as did Gelof. Even so, for the Athletics, August has been a month of 17 losses so far, and they rank among the worst home teams in MLB with a 25-42 record. At least, a return to form is in sight after Shea Langeliers' injury.
