New York Mets vs Baltimore Orioles Prediction & Picks - MLB

The New York Mets (65-61) and Baltimore Orioles (74-53) will play the deciding game of their 3-game series Wednesday afternoon. The Mets took game one 4-3 but the Orioles got their bats going in game two and tied the series with a 9-5 win. Anthony Santander and James McCann each homered in the win. Dean Kremer went 6 innings for the Orioles. He held the Mets to just 1 run on 2 hits with 7 strikeouts. They got to Quintana early and chased him off after 5 innings after picking up 7 runs on 8 hits. The Mets will turn to Sean Manaea (9-5, 3.46) in hopes of having a better outing than Quintana. Manaea allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 7 innings of work against the Marlins in his last start. That was a bit better than the 3 innings he lasted against the Mariners in his start previous. For the Orioles, Cole Irvin (6-5, 4.85) will get the start. It will be the 1st start for him since previously working out of the bullpen. It is not common for a starter to move to the bullpen to become a middle reliever only to be brought back into a starting role just weeks later. It will be interesting to see how Irvin performs and if he struggles, how short his leash will be.
