The New York Mets (64-60) will finish off their 9-game homestand with a 3-game series against the visiting Baltimore Orioles (73-52). The Mets are coming off a series win over the Miami Marlins but they failed to complete the sweep by losing game 3 on Sunday. They led 2-1 but allowed the Marlins to tie the game in the 7th and then Derek Hill picked up the game-winning RBI single in the 8th. Orioles just played a 4-game set with the Red Sox where they split the series 2-2. After winning game 1, they lost the next 2 before winning the final game on Sunday. Albert Suarez went 6 innings of shutout ball while striking out 6. Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman each homered in the win. Tonight, the Orioles will throw Trevor Rogers (2-11, 4.89) who is coming off his 2nd worst start of the season. He was knocked around for 5 runs on 7 hits through 5 innings against the Nationals. The Mets will counter with David Peterson (7-1, 3.04) who looked good against the Athletics in his latest start. He went 6.1 innings and allowed just 1 unearned run on 3 hits. The Orioles are still vying for the AL East title as they are tied with the Yankees.
