Fresh off a back-to-back win over the Seattle Mariners, the Baltimore Orioles will enter Friday’s series-opener against the Houston Astros as +186 road underdogs at Dalkin Park.
The Orioles are dead last in the AL East with a 55-66 record, but they have just earned two morale-boosting wins over one of the best teams in the AL West and playoff contender, the Seattle Mariners. Pitching continues to be the Orioles’ main weapon as they post a 3.60 ERA in the last five games. As for the offense, it’s not in good shape right now. They only average 2.9 runs per game on a .176 BA in the five-game spell.
The Astros took 2 out of 3 games to win the series with the Boston Red Sox this week. Houston, 68-53, is in the thick of a two-way battle with the Mariners for the AL West title. The last five games have seen the Astros’ vaunted pitching give up a 5.32 ERA and 1.4 home runs per game.
