Five days after concluding their run at the Club World Cup, where Los Angeles FC went winless and had an uncharacteristic lack of scoring, Los Angeles FC continued their MLS campaign, now seventh with 26 points, but with three fewer games than most in their conference. Once again, in their return to MLS action against the Vancouver Whitecaps, Los Angeles FC failed to score even a single goal. Therefore, it's quite possible that Saturday's game against Austin FC, which with 15 goals is ninth in the Western Conference and has the fewest goals scored in all of MLS, will see a low-scoring clash at Q2 Stadium.
The news of the week for Los Angeles FC was the imminent departure of Giroud, whose return to French football had been rumored for weeks. This was eventually confirmed, and while Giroud brought his team much joy, he could do little to help them overcome the scoring drought of recent weeks.
