Having clashed in Catalonia last week, these familiar foes will now battle it out in the Spanish capital of Madrid, where the Atleti boys will be hoping to finish the job against a Barcelona team that struggled to confirm favoritism during the first leg.
Having beaten their opponents just days before in the league, Hansi Flick’s men were hugely fancied to get the job done against Atleti on home soil, but it didn’t pan out that way, with Diego Simeone’s men once again proving to be worthy cup adversaries. After the first leg, Tuesday’ hosts are two goals up on aggregate, putting them in a very healthy position.
The men from Madrid knocked Barca out of the Copa del Rey earlier in the season. Can they now dump them out of the UEFA Champions League? We’ll find out at Metropolitano Stadium.

Atletico Madrid - Barcelona: Form Analysis
In terms of recent form, the hosts haven’t been in great shape, losing with far more frequency than Diego Simeone would like. Prior to the first leg, they’d lost three on the bounce in all competitions, while they also lost at the weekend, making it three LaLiga defeats on the spin. Fortunately, a week ago, in Barcelona, they won when it really mattered, displaying a fine counter-offensive display, and now that they have the lead, they’ll fancy themselves to get over the line.

For Tuesday’s visitors, things have generally gone well. Ahead of the first leg, Hansi Flick’s men had won four games straight, scoring goals for fun at times, but they failed to take to the field with their shooting boots in the first leg, missing some big chances, before going down to ten men and giving up far too much space on the break. Having rebuilt momentum at the weekend, hammering Espanyol by four goals to one, they’ll now be looking to bounce back.

Atletico Madrid & Barcelona Squad Analysis
There is only one guaranteed absentee for Diego Simeone to contend with, and that’s Marc Pubill, who is suspended. There are, however, significant doubts over the fitness of Johnny Cardoso and David Hancko, while Jan Oblak remains doubtful too. At the weekend, Julian Alvarez, Antoine Griezmann and Ademola Lookman were all rested, though all three should be back in the starting XI here.

For Barcelona, key player Raphinha will continue to miss out with a third injury, while young defender Pau Cubarsi will not feature having been sent off during the first leg. Andreas Christensen is also sidelined at present. Ferran Torres bagged himself a hat-trick at the weekend, but may be back on the bench, though Marcus Rashford should come back into the line-up having started as a substitute against Espanyol.

Our Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona Prediction
The fact that they already have a two-goal lead really could aid the hosts offensively here. We know that Barca won't sit back, and Atleti are really strong on the break, as they proved a week ago, so do not be surprised if we see more goals for the hosts. Frankly, given how much this sort of game should suit the home forward line, the early market seems to be pricing 'Atletico Madrid to Score Over 1.5 Goals' a little too generously for my liking.
Our Atletico vs Barcelona Pick: Atletico Madrid to Score Over 1.5 Goals.
