América emerged strong from the Mexican triple derby against archrival Chivas de Guadalajara in the Liga MX and Concacaf Champions League. América played quite a good game in the final, as an early goal from Rodríguez demoralized Chivas, even more so when América's second goal was scored by Valdez just before halftime. Valdez and Rodríguez shone for América on the left flank, showing great participation in a match where all four goals came from different midfielders. Jardine's defensive system, which has dominated the Liga MX and has conceded just one goal in its last five matches, is also a good one.
