Newly-acquired Desmond Bane fired 23 points in his Magic debut. Orlando, which shot 46.7 percent from the field, outscored Miami 35-30 in the fourth quarter to carve out the win.
The Hawks stumbled out of the gates after suffering a blowout loss to the Toronto Raptors 118-138. Jalen Johnson (22 points), Kristaps Porzingis (20 points), and Trae Young (22 points) all scored at least 20 points, but Atlanta’s defense was torched by the hot-shooting Raptors, who finished the game with a 56.8 percent field goal shooting. The Hawks also made just 10 out of the 35 three-point shots they attempted.
