The Atlanta Dream (7-3) visit the Chicago Sky (4-7) in a WNBA 2026 Commissioner's Cup game on Tuesday, June 9, at Wintrust Arena.
This is the first time that Atlanta and Chicago are facing each other this season, and they're coming off different paths.
First off, the Dream have won three of their last four games, including a dominant 109-77 showing against the Washington Mystics. Five Dream players scored in double digits, with Rhyne Howard's 19 markers leading the way. Angel Reese hauled in a double-double of 18 points, 17 rebounds, and 4 steals.
Offense is actually not the Dream's trump card, despite ranking in the top half of the league in offensive rating. It's their second-best defensive rating that's doing the work for them.
As for the Sky, they'll have to dig deep to break down the Dream's solid defense. They have lost six of their last seven games, including an 86-68 loss to the Toronto Tempo.
The Sky only shot 35.4% from the field in that loss, including a lowly 24% from the three-point line.
Offense has been a big problem for the Sky this season, ranking third-worst in offensive rating. That won't bode well for them against a good defensive team like the Dream.
