Washington Nationals vs Atlanta Braves Prediction & Picks - MLB

The Atlanta Braves head to Washington tonight to begin a short 2-game set with the Nationals. They will then head to Philadelphia for a 4-game set that could either allow them to put serious separation between them or allow the Phillies to get within striking distance of the NL East.

Atlanta had won 7 straight games as they came down the stretch in August. However, on Monday, they played a solo game against the San Francisco Giants and saw that 7-game win streak come to an end. Bryce Elder got tagged for 5 runs in 5 innings and took the loss. The good news for the Braves is that they get to face a familiar foe in the Washington Nationals, who they swept in a 4-game series the last time they faced them.

Washington finished up August playing some better baseball. They went 4-1 in their last 5 games and are coming off a 6-3 win over the Miami Marlins. While the wins are good, they are all against subpar competition in the Marlins and Rockies, who are a combined 34 games under .500. They will throw Jake Irvin in this matchup with the Braves. He is coming off one of his best starts of the season, albeit against the Rockies.
