San Diego Padres vs Atlanta Braves Prediction & Picks - MLB

The San Diego Padres (41-37, 21-19 Home) will go for the series sweep of the Atlanta Braves (48-30, 24-16 Away) when the two face off in the series finale today at Petco Park. Game time is scheduled for 8:40 p.m. EST with coverage provided by MLB.TV.

Both lineups woke up yesterday with nine hits each, with most of the action going down in the second inning. The Braves recorded four runs in the top half of the inning, but the lead was short-lived as the Padres recorded five in the bottom half of the inning. San Diego went on to win in extra innings, 7-6 F/10.

Atlanta is scheduled to turn to Martin Perez on the mound today. Perez is 6-3 in 15 appearances (11 starts) with a 2.78 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. He has excelled at home, but has pitched well on the road, too. On the road, he is 3-1 in six starts (seven appearances) with a 3.86 ERA and a .234 OBA.

As for the Padres, San Diego is scheduled to give JP Sears the start after recalling him from the Triple-A team. He has struggled in his most recent starts in the minors (since May 19), recording an 11.14 ERA and a 2.02 WHIP.
