The San Diego Padres (40-37, 20-19 Home) will try to make it two in a row when they host the Atlanta Braves (48-29, 24-15 Away) in the second game of a three-game series at Petco Park. First Pitch for this contest is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. EST with coverage provided by ESPN Unlimited.

San Diego’s lineup didn’t give Michael King much support yesterday with just four hits, but they needed just one to get the win, a 4th inning solo home run by Manny Machado. It would certainly help if they could generate some more offense today against Atlanta’s starter, JR Ritchie.

Ritche is 1-2 in seven appearances (six starts) with a 4.54 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP. He has gone 1-1 on the road (four appearances, three starts) with an ERA of 4.29 and a .216 OBA.  The last time he pitched on the road was June 12 vs. the New York Mets; he had a solid outing, going 5 innings and giving up two hits and no runs.

Griffin Canning, the Padres starter, may need quite a bit of support to get a win. Canning is 1-5 in nine appearances (eight starts) with a 6.64 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP. At home, he has a 4.85 ERA and a 0-2 record across five starts, but held opponents to a .215 BA.
