The New York Mets will go for a 3-0 sweep of the Atlanta Braves on Saturday, a day after JD Martinez delivered a grand slam in the 7th inning to lift his team to an 8-4 win over the Mets. The Mets have now entered into the NL wild card race after bagging their seventh win in 10 games. New York has been running like a well-oiled machine these past two weeks, batting .246 with 5.1 runs per game and stifling opposing teams to an impeccable 3.83 ERA. The 55-48 Mets officially took the No.2 spot in the NL East from the 54-48 Braves after Friday’s win. Meanwhile, the Braves absorbed their seventh loss in 10 games, sending them to third place in their division standings. Runs haven’t come in bunches for the Braves like it used to be weeks ago as they averaged just 2.8 runs per game on a .214 batting average in their previous 10 games.
