Miami Marlins vs Atlanta Braves Prediction & Picks - MLB

The Marlins will host the Atlanta Braves in the finale of a three-game series today at loanDepot park at 1:10 p.m. EST. Miami took Game One of the series Monday, a surprising pitcher’s duel, 2-1, but dropped Game Two yesterday, 11-2.

Joey Wentz is scheduled to get the start for the Braves. A relief pitcher for most of his career, Wentz has started seven games for Atlanta this season, appearing in 33. He’s earned a 4-4 record with a 5.25 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, and .258 OBA. On the road, he is 2-2 in 16 appearances (three starts) with a 3.32 ERA and .206 OBA. This will be the second time he’s faced the Marlins this month. On Aug. 10, he got the win after pitching 5 1/3 innings, giving up four hits and one earned run while striking out two and walking three. As for Miami, the Marlins are giving the recently acquired Ryan Gusto the start. Formerly with the Astros, Gusto has a 7-6 record in 16 starts (26 appearances) with a 5.05 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and .272 OBA. He’s pitched in two games for Miami. His last was vs. Toronto on Aug. 22; he gave up seven hits and five earned runs. His first was vs. the Braves in Atlanta (Aug. 9), where he pitched six innings, giving up four hits, three earned runs, and two walks while striking out eight.
