The top team in the NL West will host the top team in the NL East for a weekend series that begins later tonight in LA. The Los Angeles Dodgers (23-14) face the Atlanta Braves (26-12) in what could be a potential NLCS showdown come this postseason.
Atlanta has gone 4-2 through their 6 games in May. In those 6 games, they have combined with their opponents to average 9.8 runs per game. Their young catcher, Drake Baldwin, has been off to a tremendous start to the season. He is hitting over .300 with 9 home runs and 30 RBIs to go with his 30 runs scored. He trails only Matt Olson in RBIs (33), who is also hitting just a tick over .300 for the season.
As impressive as the Braves' offense has been this season, the Dodgers have just as good or better in some respects. They are coming off a series against the Astros where they combined for 28 runs in their 3-game set. Andy Pages is coming off a 3-5 game with 3 home runs and 6 RBIs. That game put him on top of the Dodger lineup in terms of average (.336) and extended his lead in RBIs, which now sits at 33 total.
Chris Sale will start for the Braves, while Emmet Sheehan will get the go for the Dodgers. Sale has been strong in his last 4 starts, but gave up 6 in 4 innings in his last start against a Los Angeles team. Sheehan has not been great and is carrying a hefty 5.23 ERA on the season. Runs should not come at a premium in this one.

They are both in the top 5 in total runs scored and in the top 3 in slugging percentage on the season. Sale has looked good recently, but this Dodgers lineup is going to be a tough one for him to navigate. We like this one getting over the total behind the power of both offenses.
