At the San Mamés Stadium, Athletic Bilbao and Arsenal will kick off a new Champions League season in a match where the Gunners are the -109 favorites to win.
The Londoners had a remarkable European season in the previous edition, highlighting their victory over reigning champions Real Madrid. They also thrashed PSV 7-1 in the Netherlands before being eliminated by eventual champions PSG in the semifinals.
This start to the campaign has been positive for Arteta's side, so much so that they only lost against Liverpool, but won their other three league matches without conceding a goal, including a victory against Manchester United and a 5-0 thrashing of Leeds. They scored three goals over the weekend, one of them from Europe's most outstanding striker and new Arsenal player, Viktor Gyökeres.
Athletic Club fell short of winning the Europa League last season, but with a splendid home season, they secured fourth place in the long-awaited Champions League. The Lions, however, despite winning their first three league matches, were unable to defeat Alavés at home, who broke the Basque side's dominance at San Mamés.
