Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus looks to stay in the hunt for a threepeat as she takes on Jessica Bouzas Maneiro of Spain in the second round of the women’s singles tournament at the 2025 Australian Open championships. Sabalenka advanced to the second round after decimating former Grand Slam champion Sloane Stephens 6-3 6-2. The current world’s No.1 needed just over an hour to finish off Stephen, capturing 22 first-serve points and five breakpoints. Maneiro also posted a straight-set victory over Sonay Kartal of Great Britain 6-1 7-6(5). After obliterating Kartal in the first set 6-1, the Spaniard faced resistance from her British opponent in the second set, which was decided in a tiebreaker. Maneiro busted out exceptional shot-making to ice the match for good. With the victory, Maneiro reached the second round of the Australian Open for the first time in her career.
