With a well-taken penalty by Havertz, the German prevented his former team from beating Arsenal in Germany; now the Gunners only need a victory against Bayer Leverkusen to advance to the Champions League quarterfinals. Arsenal had a perfect league campaign; a win on Tuesday would give them their third consecutive quarterfinal appearance. During the league campaign, Arteta's Arsenal even managed to defeat an unbeaten Bayern Munich side in London this season. Therefore, the London club's confidence is brimming, further boosted by their 2-0 Premier League win over Everton at the weekend, putting them closer than ever to their first league title since 2004.
Even so, Bayer Leverkusen is a tough nut to crack, so much so that they came to the Etihad Stadium and surprised everyone by beating Manchester City; they had also previously defeated Benfica in Portugal. Bayer Leverkusen have lost only one of their last 14 matches, but four of their last five were draws, including this past weekend when García's early goal secured a 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich.
Even so, the Champions League round of 16 has become a historical barrier for Bayer Leverkusen, who haven't reached the quarterfinals since 2002. Furthermore, they failed to score in their last three away matches in the round of 16.

Arsenal - Bayer Leverkusen: Form Analysis
With goals from Gyökeres and Dowman in the 97th minute, Arteta's Arsenal defeated Everton at the Emirates Stadium in a match on Matchday 30. Known for faltering when it matters most, this time the more experienced Gunners seem determined to avoid a collapse in the final stretch of the season.
The Premier League title is practically a foregone conclusion with odds of -1429 to win it, but at +250 odds they are also the favorite to win this Champions League.
With 10 wins, Arsenal have now gone 13 consecutive matches without defeat; they have won 17 out of 20 European knockout ties in which they didn't lose the first leg away from home, and Arsenal have never lost to Leverkusen in their history.
Bayer Leverkusen's victory halted their historically poor run of results against English opposition in Europe; the Aspirins have lost 8 of their last 11 matches on English soil.

Arsenal & Bayer Leverkusen Squad Analysis
Havertz, despite scoring the first-leg goal, wasn't particularly effective against Everton at the weekend, so Arteta might turn to Gyokeres, the striker Arsenal spent a fortune on, to lead the Gunners' attack. Behind the Swede, Arteta would adjust his lineup to allow the two dribblers, Saka and Madueke, to play on either flank. Against Everton, in the last match, the center-backs played flawlessly, Gabriel, but especially Saliba, who won six aerial duels.
Arteta has a big choice to make for his front man, with Havertz and Gyokeres both fit.
Due to the postponement, Aleix Garcia could very well miss the second leg for Leverkusen; Grimaldo, Maza, Terrier, and Kofane are then likely to lead the Bundesliga club's attack.

Our Arsenal vs Bayer Leverkusen Prediction
Arsenal have now won six consecutive matches at the Emirates Stadium in all competitions; recently, in London, Wigan in the FA Cup and Brighton and Everton in the Premier League failed to score a single goal against the Gunners. This is certainly not good news for Bayer Leverkusen.
Although Arsenal will be without Ødegaard and Merino, the London side boasts a deep squad, and among their other stars, Zubimendi and Rice will be playing on Tuesday, while the list of confirmed or doubtful absences for Bayer Leverkusen's Champions League game has grown to eight.
Our prediction for Arsenal vs Bayer Leverkusen is: Arsenal -1.5.

Arsenal win the match
Although Arsenal narrowly avoided defeat in the first leg in Germany and may be at a disadvantage as the favorite, facing the pressure of being “expected” to advance to the quarterfinals, the fact is that the British side has what it takes to reach the next round.
We’re confident that Arteta’s team will capitalize on home-field advantage and defeat Leverkusen in London.
