Two teams on the verge of tying their records, the Diamondbacks and Rangers, will play the second game of their series against each other at Globe Life Field. Game 1, which Arizona won 1-0, had the fewest possible runs and was as close as could be. Perdomo drove in Carroll, and that was the only run of the game. The Rangers only managed four hits.

Game 2 promises to be an engaging matchup, with the Rangers favored at -136 odds. MacKenzie Gore will start for the Rangers; his standout feature is his high strikeout rate, 48 in 40 innings pitched, but he has also been somewhat wild, allowing 21 walks this season. His ERA is high at 5.18 this season; since April, he has had two games in which he allowed five ERs against the Mariners and Yankees. It's bad for Gore and for the team that the D-backs are the sixth-best strikeout team in MLB.

The well-known Zac Gallen will start for Arizona on Tuesday; his record has worsened to 1-3. The veteran is struggling to find his form; his last outing was better than the one before last, but he allowed a home run and the four earned runs by which the Pirates lost 4-2 to Pittsburgh in that game.
