St. Louis Cardinals vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction & Picks - MLB

The St. Louis Cardinals will face the Arizona Diamondbacks in a rare solo game this afternoon. It is a makeup from the one that was postponed back in late June.

These teams also just faced off to kick off the 2nd half of their seasons after the All-Star break. In that series, the Cardinals defeated the Diamondbacks in game one when Ivan Herrera hit a sacrifice fly to score Jose Fermin in the 9th, prior to Riley O'Brien picking up his 25th save.

In the next game, the Diamondbacks were able to turn the tables and picked up a 5-3 win. They jumped to a 5-0 lead and were able to hold on late with Paul Sewald picking up the save. In the finale, Max Kepler played the hero. He walked off the Cardinals with a double to deep right off Luis Gastelum to score Jorge Barrosa.

Today, Brandon Pfaadt will go for the Diamondbacks, while Michael McGreevy will start for the Cardinals. It should be an interesting game due to the nature of it being a one-off. That said, both starters in this one are capable of holding either lineup in check, making runs not that easy to come by.
