The Arizona Diamondbacks (61-52 SU, 57-56 ATS) play the first game of a doubleheader with the Cleveland Guardians (67-45 SU, 57-55 ATS), who have dropped three straight games. However, Tuesday’s postponement might be just what Cleveland needed to get itself back on track.
The Guardians’ biggest strength all year has been their bullpen, which is definitely not one of the Diamondbacks’ strengths. Arizona now has to figure out how to last 18 innings against Cleveland pitching, and that likely means going deep into their own bullpen at least once. With Brandon Pfaadt on the mound, that might come in the first game; he’s been hit pretty hard in his past two starts, even though Arizona won. Given how well Cleveland has been hitting lately, another over might be in play.
