A battle of 16-win teams will take place Wednesday afternoon when the Cincinnati Reds host the Arizona Diamondbacks. This will be the 2nd game of their series after the Diamondbacks took Game 1 by the score 6-2 yesterday. Zac Gallen pitched well fort he DBacks as he allowed no runs on just 1 hit on 6 innings of work. Corbin Carroll took care of most of the offense. He finished the game 2-5 with a homerun and 5 RBIs. Ketel Marte added a solo homerun to add to the offense. Frankie Montas of the Reds pitched a solid game as well, going 6 innings and allowing just 1 run and striking out 7. It was the Reds bullpen that allowed most of the runs that ultimately led to their loss. For Game 2, it will be Jordan Montgomery (1-2, 5.63) for the Diamondbacks and Graham Ashcroft (3-1, 3.63) for the Reds. Montgomery only lasted 3 innings in his last start after he get knocked around for 6 runs by the Dodgers. Ashcroft is coming off his best outing of the season where he went 6 innings and did not allow an earned run to the Padres. He will need to go deep into this one for the Reds to avoid the bullpen that cost them the game yesterday.
