On Friday night, Angel City FC and Utah Royals will lock horns in Matchday 8 of the 2025 NWSL season at the BMO Stadium. Both sides haven’t enjoyed great starts to the season, although Angel City is the better side on paper. They are eighth with 11 points from seven matches, ending their two-game winless run with a 3-4 win over Washington Spirit last weekend. They lost 3-2 to Orlando Pride earlier, highlighting their newfound resilience.
Utah Royals, meanwhile, have had a rough start to the 2025 campaign, winning only once in their seven assignments. They have also shared the spoils just once, leaving them in 13th spot with only four points. Many expected them to build on their 1-0 win against Chicago Stars last month. However, they have since lost two games on the bounce, including last weekend’s 2-0 home loss to North Carolina Courage. Head coach Jimmy Coenraets certainly has work to do.
