Madison Keys of the United States will take on Anastasia Zakharova of Russia in the second round of the 2025 HSBC Championship.
The grass court has begun for Madison Keys and other WTA players competing in the Queens and other tournaments spread across Europe this week. Keys, who reached the quarterfinal of the 2025 French Open, is shifting her focus to the grass, where she parades an impressive 72 percent win rate or a 50-19 record. Last year, Keys played all the way to the fourth round, losing to eventual finalist Jasmine Paolini 6-3 6-7(6) 5-5 ret.
Zakharova earned her third straight victory on Monday after besting Donna Vekic of Croatia 6-3 6-3 in the first round. Zakharova had also won a couple of matches in the qualifying phase against Daniela Piani of Great Britain 7-5 6-4 and Carol Zhao of Canada 6-3 6-7(1) 7-6(7).
