On Tuesday evening in Colorado, the Avalanche (34-5-8) will host the Anaheim Ducks (25-21-3) in a battle of Western Conference foes. The teams met once earlier this season, back in November. That game also took place in Colorado, and the Avalanche took that game by the score of 4-1. Scott Wedgewood was dominant in net, saving 35 of the 36 shots he faced from the Ducks. Nathan MacKinnon had a tremendous game as a playmaker. He finished the game with an assist hat trick.
The Ducks began 2026 in a very worrisome fashion. They lost their 1st 5 games out of the gate by a total of 14 goals. However, they have since turned a corner and are currently riding a 4-game winning streak. They most recently knocked off the Rangers 5-3 on Monday. During this current win streak, the defense and goaltending have been at a higher level. They have held opponents to an average of just 1.75 goals per game. They will need to continue this high-level play in Colorado against a very dangerous offense.
The Avalanche are the top team in the league in points by a solid margin. The Carolina Hurricanes are the closest but are still double-digits behind. That said, the Avs have not been rolling over opponents lately. They are just .500 in 2026 (4-4). They are coming off a 5-2 victory against the Capitals, in which they avoided what would have been just their 2nd losing streak of the season. While they have been struggling a bit, they still rank 1st in the league in both goals for and goals allowed. Meaning, they are still the most dangerous team in the league on both sides of the ice.
The Ducks' best chance in this one is going to be keeping a low-scoring affair. They simply can not keep up with the Avalanche if this one turns into a back-and-forth scoring game.

Our Colorado Avalanche vs Anaheim Ducks Prediction
The price on the Avalanche is upwards of over -300 in most sportsbooks. While they are likely to win this one, the price is just too high. As we discussed above, the Ducks will need to keep this one low-scoring to stay in the game. We do not believe they will be able to do that, and the floodgates should open up. We like this one to exceed the total of 6.5 here in Colorado.
Our prediction for Colorado Avalanche vs Anaheim Ducks: Over 6.5
