On Wednesday evening, two teams that picked up maximum points last time out will clash in Austin. Club America, of Mexico, take on Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer. For the Mexicans, things didn't start amazingly well, with the Club America boys losing to Real Salt Lake on penalties following a 2-2 tie. Second time out, they also tied, scoring three and conceding three in a thrilling encounter against Minnesota, before this time making the most of their chance from spot kicks, leaving them on a fairly healthy three points after two games. They'll now be looking to kick on, but beating a Timbers team that has won two out of two in this competition won't be easy, that's for sure.
Phil Neville's men began their Leagues Cup campaign by beating Atletico San Luis in fine fashion, scoring four goals without reply, before they followed that win up with a more pragmatic victory over Queretaro, winning by a goal to zero courtesy of a first-half strike from Christhian Paredes.
