The most anticipated match of Matchday 7 of Liga MX will undoubtedly be the one between América and Pachuca at the Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes.
With a 0-0 draw at the Estadio Hidalgo and a 2-0 victory in the Mexican capital, América eliminated Pachuca from the Clausura playoffs. This marks the second consecutive time that América has eliminated Pachuca in Liga MX playoffs, following a similar outcome in the previous Apertura tournament playoffs. Pachuca had the upper hand in their Concacaf Champions League playoff. Without a doubt, the rivalry between these two iconic Mexican clubs is intense.
América showed a mix of patience and mental resilience in their last two matches, both of which they trailed. At the Estadio Universitario, on Matchday 5, they started losing against Tigres as early as the 5th minute, but with two goals from Sánchez and an own goal, they won.
On Matchday 6, defensive lapses in Jalisco caused América to lose their lead against Atlas, but they came back again, this time through their new signing, Frenchman Saint-Maximin, who wildly celebrated the game-winner.
