The quarterfinals of the ATP 250 Geneva will kick off on Thursday, May 23, with the first match of the round being the duel between Alex Michelsen and Tomas Machac, scheduled for 6:00 AM Central Mexico Time. There is no clear favorite to advance to the semifinals due to the strong performance of both players.
On one hand, Alex Michelsen has been one of the most surprising players of the tournament. Despite being the underdog in his matches against Kovacevic and Fritz, he managed to handle the pressure excellently, coming from behind to defeat Kovacevic with scores of (6-3, 3-6, 4-6), and enduring a tough match against Fritz to eventually win in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 5-7).
On the other hand, Tomas Machac also overcame a significant challenge by defeating Jack Draper in the first round in straight sets (7-6, 6-1). However, he had to fight hard to surpass Nicolás Moreno, an American player who forced him into three sets before Machac sealed the comeback (6-4, 5-7, 0-6). Thus, it is expected that the Czech player will deliver an elevated performance in this stage.
