With just over a week to go before the tournament kicks off, today we’re taking a look at the big matchups of the 2026 World Cup, including the schedule for the Stars and Stripes, Mexico, and Canada.

Will the USMNT manage to hold their own against the world's top national teams listed in our 2026 World Cup picks? In any case, the group stage seems doable, though not without some difficult matchups.

In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the journey of the US, Canada, and Mexico for the group stage matches.

2026 World Cup: USMNT Group Stage Matchups

The USMNT will need to be solid in Group D, facing a Turkish team in fine form:

• USA vs Paraguay: Friday, June 12 at 9:00 PM ET
• USA vs Australia: Friday, June 19 at 3:00 PM ET
• Turkey vs USA: Thursday, June 25 at 10:00 PM ET

While not the strongest group of the tournament, Group D, featuring the USMNT, could hold some surprises. The US will need to hold off attacks from Paraguay and the Socceroos before confronting the most difficult team in the group: Turkey, in the final group stage match. On paper, finishing top of the group seems doable for the Stars and Stripes, but nothing is certain at the World Cup.

2026 World Cup: Team Canada's Group Stage Matchups

Of the three host nations, Canada's Group B is undoubtedly the most difficult: 

• Canada vs Bosnia-Herzegovina: Friday, June 12 at 3:00 PM ET
• Canada vs Qatar: Thursday, June 18 at 6:00 PM ET
• Switzerland vs Canada: Wednesday, June 24 at 3:00 PM ET

Group B of the 2026 World Cup is no joke. Team Canada have their work cut out for them from the opening match against a powerful Bosnia-Herzegovina, one of the tournament's dark horses. They'll then face off against previous WC hosts, Qatar in a match they absolutely need 3 points from. To round out their group stage matches, Canada will then duke it out against European powerhouses, Switzerland. Jonathan David and co. will need to be in top form if they're to top this group.

2026 World Cup: Mexico's Group Stage Matchups

Mexico will have the benefit of their die-hard fans in full force to help them clear a relatively easy Group A:

• Mexico vs South Africa: Thursday, June 11 at 3:00 PM ET
• Mexico vs South Korea: Thursday, June 18 at 9:00 PM ET
• Czechia vs Mexico: Wednesday, June 24 at 9:00 PM ET

El Tri are expected to top Group A as the clear group favorites. They should have no problem showing their strengths in front of their home crowd at the legendary Estadio Azteca for the opening match against an underpowered South African team. Czechia and South Korea could both hold some surprises, but we're expecting Mexico to advance to the knockout stage with relative ease.
