WTA 500 Strasbourg & Rabat: Our predictions for the two tournaments

WTA Strasbourg: Madison Keys Won't Be Defending Her Title
Last year, it was the American and current world number 6 Madison Keys who won the title for the first time in her career against her compatriot Danielle Collins. And one thing's for sure: the winner of this 2025 edition will be different from last year's, as the American will not be present to defend her title.
The previous finalist, Danielle Collins, will be present this year, but her recent performances in the 2025 season don't really seem to have raised hopes of consecutive victories. Indeed, the American has not yet managed more than two wins in a row this year.
WTA 500 Strasbourg: An American to Succeed Madison Keys
Jessica Pegula, seeded number 1, could have been the favorite to win the title. But the American hasn't really been in form on this surface recently. After winning the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston last April, she has failed to string together 2 consecutive victories since, losing in the second round in Madrid and then Rome without managing to win a set against Moyuka Uchijima (world no. 47) and Elise Mertens (world no. 24).
It's the Charleston finalist, American Sofia Kenin, who has the greatest hopes of winning the title. Indeed, the 26-year-old had achieved some promising victories at the American tournament, eliminating top 15 Daria Kasatkina and Russian Anna Kalinskaya in the quarter-finals in just 2 sets. An unfortunate loser in the final against Jessica Pegula, she will be out for revenge this time around, with a string of victories to make her a tournament finalist once again and bring the title home.
Additionally, despite being stopped in the second round in Rome on May 11th by world number 1 Aryna Sabalenka, Sofia Kenin managed to catch the Belarusian by winning the first set of their duel. There's nothing better for the American than to win a title to regain the confidence she may have lost in Charleston, and to project herself in the best possible light for the next Grand Slam, which is just around the corner.
Our WTA Strasbourg prediction: Sofia Kenin wins the title!
WTA Rabat: An open field to succeed Peyton Stearns
With just a few days to go before the start of the French Open, it's time to make the final adjustments on the women's side at the WTA tournament in Rabat. This is still a very open tournament in our tennis predictions, with a number of players outside the world's top 40 looking to succeed American Peyton Stearns.
This year, there are no big favorites for this 2025 edition, but several tennis women will arrive in Morocco with title ambitions, and here are our predictions.
Camila Osorio the Favorite?
Following the last-minute withdrawal of Armenian Elina Avanesyan, Camila Osorio finds herself the highest-ranked player to take part in the WTA Rabat tournament. The Colombian, ranked 55th in the WTA, is a pure clay-court enthusiast who has achieved her best results on this surface, including 3 titles in Bogota and a 1/8th final last year at the 2024 Olympic Games.
The South American has struggled of late, but in a tournament that seems well within her grasp, Camila Osorio will be the number 1 favorite in Morocco to claim a 4th career clay-court title.
Lucia Bronzetti for a 2nd title in Morocco?
Winner in Rabat in 2023, Lucia Bonzetti is right at home in Morocco. However, the Italian has had a tricky spring, with a number of missed appointments (1st round in Rouen and Charleston, 2nd round in Madrid and Rome), and sees this tournament as the best way to get back on track before leaving for Paris. A talented but inconsistent player, Lucia Bronzetti could be a good bet at the WTA Rabat 2025 tournament.
WTA Rabat: The other contenders for victory
Behind the two tournament favorites, a number of players will be looking to play their cards close to their chest this week in Morocco. Starting with Ann Li! The American showed in Madrid recently that she can play good tennis (3rd round) on clay, having reached the final in Singapore last February.
A clay court enthusiast, Viktoriya Tomova is looking for her best in 2025. Although she has yet to unlock her potential, the Bulgarian, ranked 61st on the WTA rankings, remains capable of dominating opponents within her reach over the course of a week.
And what about France's chances? One of our representatives will be present at this WTA tournament in Rabat, Varvara Gracheva. The French No. 1 has been building up her confidence in Paris this week, reaching the semi-finals of the Paris Challenger.
A good preparation to regain her sensations before the French Open, where she has shone in the past (eighth finalist in 2024). If the 65th-ranked player in the world can play her best tennis, she'll be a contender for victory at the 2025 WTA Rabat tournament!
