WTA French Open: First Time for Aryna Sabalenka?
Could 2025 finally be Aryna Sabalenka’s year? The Belarusian enters the French Open as the world No. 1 and the clear favorite for this year’s tournament.
Fresh off a win in Madrid, the three-time Grand Slam champion is coming in with momentum and power that could overwhelm her opponents. Consistently strong at the highest level, Aryna Sabalenka is our pick to capture her first trophy in Paris.
Our WTA French Open prediction: Aryna Sabalenka to win (odds: +280)
Never Count Out Iga Swiatek, Four-Time French Open Champion
After early exits in both Madrid and Rome, Iga Swiatek has slipped to No. 5 in the WTA rankings, losing her runner-up spot to Aryna Sabalenka. Struggling to find her top form in 2025, the Polish star faces a tougher draw this year than in previous editions.
Still, underestimating the four-time French Open winner would be a huge mistake. Swiatek feels right at home in Paris and, long regarded as the best clay-court player in the game, could very well return to peak form at the French Open this year (odds: +300).
Jasmine Paolini’s Grand Slam Breakthrough?
Just a year ago, Jasmine Paolini burst onto the scene by reaching the French Open final. Since then, the Italian has cemented her place among the world’s best, including another major final at Wimbledon.
Now ranked No. 4 in the world, Paolini heads to Paris in the best shape of her career, fresh off her biggest win yet at the Rome Masters 1000. In top form, she’s a legitimate title contender in the 2025 French Open (odds: +1300).
French Open Sleepers to Watch
Behind the top three favorites, several other players are in the hunt for the Roland Garros crown, starting with Coco Gauff (odds: +490). The American reached the finals in both Madrid and Rome this spring and came close to winning it all in Paris back in 2022. With her current level, the world No. 2 is a serious threat.
Another strong contender is Mirra Andreeva (odds: +500). The Russian broke into the top 10 this season after her win at Indian Wells. A semifinalist last year in Paris, Andreeva has taken her game to the next level. At just 18 years old, she’s one of the top sleepers to watch at the 2025 French Open.
