ATP Hambourg & Geneva: Our Predictions for the two tournaments!
by Tyler Doty | by Tyler Doty

ATP Hamburg: A local for the final title
Alexander Zverev is the unsurprising favorite to win the title in Hamburg. Indeed, the world No. 2 is the tournament's No. 1 seed. Stopped early at the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000 in his clay-court debut, the German tennis player then made the most of the German courts, winning the title in front of his home crowd against Ben Shelton in Munich.
Prevented from defending his title at the Rome Masters 1000 by Italy's Lorenzo Musetti in the quarter-finals, the German should use the support of his home crowd to add a second title to his career in Hamburg. A final victory that should also reassure the German player ahead of the Grand Slam at Roland Garros next week.
What's more, the Hamburg tournament is a particularly familiar one for the 28-year-old, since in addition to his victory in 2023, he was last year's finalist against Arthur Fils. A run that will only accentuate his desire to win the title here and take revenge for his run last year.
Our prediction for the ATP Hamburg winner: Alexander Zverev wins the title!
ATP Geneva: A strong field to add to the list of winners
With the master of the house absent this year (Casper Ruud, winner of the tournament 3 times and defending champion), the ATP Geneva tournament offers us a fine, evenly matched line-up for this pre-French Open event.
With Taylor Fritz, Novak Djokovic, Tomas Machac, Karen Khachanov and Hubert Hurkacz all in Switzerland this week, the Swiss tournament promises to be a hotly contested affair, with many of the top 30 players here to practice their skills before heading to Paris next weekend. Some have come to reassure themselves after difficult results, others to find their rhythm, making this 2025 edition undecided.
Novak Djokovic, The Last Test Before the French Open?
After being eliminated on his first appearances in Monte-Carlo and Madrid, Novak Djokovic comes to Switzerland to reassure himself just a few days before Roland Garros. The world's 6th-ranked player has yet to win on clay this season, and his level of form and motivation leave some doubts.
However, if the Serb can find his feet again on the clay courts of Geneva, there's no doubt that the 2024 Olympic champion will be one to watch.
Taylor Fritz Wants to Find His Feet On Clay
Not a fan of clay, Taylor Fritz doesn't like to spend too much time on this surface. However, when you're world number 4, the status is different, and the American will have to live up to that in Geneva. But after unconvincing performances in 2025 (1/8th final in Madrid and 2nd round in Rome), it's hard to be optimistic for Taylor Fritz.
Nevertheless, let's not forget that last year, despite his disenchantment with clay, the American reached the 1/8th finals at Roland Garros, proof that with a little desire and motivation, Taylor Fritz can play well on this surface. Seeded number 1, the Californian will be one to watch when making your predictions for the Geneva ATP tournament.
Tomas Machac Looking for a 2024 Repeat
A year ago, Tomas Machac reached the final of the ATP Geneva tournament, beating the odds. In 2025, the Czech is still finding his feet, with early exits in Monte-Carlo, Madrid and Rome. But a return to the Swiss air will reinvigorate the world's 20th-ranked player, who will be one of the week's favorites.
Outsiders at the ATP Geneva Tournament
In this season's highly competitive Geneva tournament, there will be plenty of outsiders lining up at the gates. Hubert Hurkacz, who had a good tournament in Rome, will be looking to confirm his return to form in Switzerland. Karen Khachanov came close to knocking out Carlos Alcaraz last week, proving that he is still capable of playing at a very high level, and his unpredictability makes him very dangerous.
