Coco Gauff of the United States will slug it out with Wang Xinyu of China in the second round of the 2025 Berlin Ladies Open on Thursday.
Gauff is set to win her first grass-court match since winning her second Grand Slam title almost two weeks ago at Roland Garros. Gauff, the new world’s No.2, received a bye into the second round in Berlin, where her French Open final opponent Aryna Sabalenka is also vying for the crown. Gauff is a career 24-10 on the grass.
Wang arranged a second career duel with Gauff after racking up three consecutive wins, including a morale-boosting win over Daria Kasatkina of Australia 6-3 6-2 in the first round. A qualifier in this tournament, Wang shocked Kasatkina by holding all except one of her serves and picking up four breakpoint conversions.
