The Central Division is not quite won yet but it will be done if the 50-20-9 Dallas Stars can take two points against the 48-24-6 Winnipeg Jets on Thursday. The Stars have won 10 of their last 11 games, remarkably the one defeat came on the road at the Chicago Blackhawks, the second-worst team in the league. They fell asleep early in the second period that day, the Hawks scoring their three in a four-minute spell. Five straight wins at American Airlines Center have got them to within touching distance of a division title with Jason Robertson having points in eight of their last nine games here.
Winnipeg have won four straight after losing six in a row so they played themselves out of contention in the division but there is no doubt that they would love to play spoiler here. They have scored 17 in those four wins after only lighting the lamp 10 times in the six losses. That level of streakiness is going to be a negative for them when the playoffs start but a recent win in Nashville has guaranteed that they will finish no worse than third in the Central Division. Kyle Connor got the overtime winner in Nashville, his 10th game-winning goal of the season. That sees him tied in second place in the league in that category, an excellent return given he missed 16 games.
