Two teams that made displeasing starts to the new Bundesliga season will clash on Saturday, with Werder Bremen due to host Bayer Leverkusen at Weserstadion, where the pair played out an entertaining 2-2 tie last season. After a rather solid campaign last time around, finishing eighth under the stewardship of Ole Werner, this season marks a new beginning for Bremen, who are now coached by Horst Steffen, who will be looking to improve of the acheivements of his predecessor. Unfortunately, the opening weeked didn't go smoothly, with Saturday's hosts losing heavily to Frankfurt. Will playing in front of a home crowd help them to do better?
For Leverkusen, it's also a new era, with the man who guided them to that famous league title in 2024 now heading up affairs at Real Madrid. With Xabi Alonso out, Erik ten Hag is the man to try and take Sunday's visitors forward, though the Dutchman couldn't oversee opening-weekend success, with his side coming unstuck at home to Hoffenheim, going down by two goals to one. They too need to improve.
