Since the All-Star break, the Pelicans are 5-4; they sit in 13th place in the Western Conference, far from the play-in race, but they return to New Orleans with a positive feeling after a productive road trip in which they won three games and lost three. Their last loss was against the Suns, 116-118, but they return as -340 favorites at the Smoothie King Center when they face the Wizards on Sunday.
On Friday, the Pelicans came just short of beating the Suns, who were without Williams and Brooks on the court. Trey Murphy led New Orleans with 22 points. It was a foul-filled game that saw 63 free throws, and although the Pelicans won the fourth quarter 35-26, they fell short by two points.
The Wizards are also in 13th place, but in the Eastern Conference. They have had two days off; however, they have not yet been able to shake off the terrible end to February and the beginning of March, during which they lost seven straight games. Finally, Trae Young made his debut in a Washington jersey. He arrived from Atlanta in January, and it wasn't until now that he played, contributing 12 points and six assists.
