Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders are in need of a win Sunday when they face the Saints in the Superdome in New Orleans. At 8-5 heading into the game, they would squeeze into the playoffs as the final wild card in the NFC. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
After a dreadful November that saw the Commanders lose three of four games, Washington got a much-needed win last Sunday to kick off December, 42-19 over the Titans. Daniels had a solid day in the passing game, going 25-30 for 206 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. But it was the running game that won the day, with five players combining for 267 yards on the ground. They face a Saints team that is already down one of its best weapons in Tayson Hill and will likely be without starting quarterback Derek Carr.
Carr is in the concussion protocol and fractured his non-throwing hand in the win over the Giants last week. Should Carr get ruled out, the Saints will give a second-year player, Jake Haener, his first NFL start. If that ends up being the case, fans can probably expect New Orleans to lean heavily on running back Alvin Kamara.

The Commanders will win this game. Coming off a bye, they’ll be rested, fresh, and ready to play. While Daniels has cooled down from his torrid start, he is still playing good football within the Commanders system. On the defensive end, this game is expected to be the Washington debut of former Saints defensive back Marshon Lattimore. With an injury-filled roster, the Saints don’t stand a chance. So, the question is whether Washington can cover a 7.5-point spread. There is no reason to think they will fail to do so against this Saints team.
