The Philadelphia Phillies will try to extend their winning streak to five games in Thursday’s Game 3 vs. the Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park.
After eking out a 1-run win in Game 1, the Phillies captured their second win over the Nationals with a smashing 7-2 win on Wednesday. Christopher Sanchez allowed two earned runs in 5.0 innings, while Kyle Schwarber, Max Kepler and JT Realmuto each belted a homer in the lopsided win for the 17-13 Phillies.
Once again, poor pitching continued to trouble the Nationals, who carry a 5.27 ERA this season. Washington’s batting corps did not also deliver the good on Wednesday as they went 5 for 31 behind the plate. Amed Rosario and Nathaniel Lowe drove the only two runs in the match for the Nationals, who are batting .240 with 131 runs this year.
