The Atlanta Braves and the Washington Nationals will wrap up their four-game series on Thursday at Truist Park.
The Nationals finally scored a win in their ongoing series with the Braves after James Wood’s RBI double in the 8th inning capped Washington’s 4-0 run, edging Atlanta 5-4 in Game 3. The Nats had lost seven games in a row before that win, which put them in a tie with the Miami Marlins at the bottom of NL East with an identical 18-26 record.
The Braves have won 3 of their last 5 games, but Wednesday’s loss not only send pushed them back below .500 at 21-22, it also halted their momentum as they attempt to cut the Philadelphia Phillies’ 4-game lead in the NL East. Atlanta is pitching an impressive 2.33 ERA over their last five games, though they are just producing 3.8 runs a game in that stretch.
