The current NHL season is currently delivering many surprises in the top spots of both conferences, and even though teams like the Dallas Stars and Washington Capitals are still competing for playoff spots, the reality is that they’re very far from the level they had during the last season. With these factors in mind, both teams are expected to deliver a very spectacular game next Tuesday night, when the Capitals visit the American Airlines Center.

For this game, the Dallas Stars are considered the big favorites to win according to the bookies’ odds; however, it must be noted that the Stars haven’t been able to score more than three goals in any of their last five games in a row. With that disappointing offensive performance in mind, the Stars must push players like Miiko Rantanen and Jason Robertson to increase their scoring participation, as none of them have been able to score more than five goals this season.

Meanwhile, the Washington Capitals lost a two-game winning streak after their most recent loss to the Ottawa Senators (1-7), a game in which their defensive performance conceded the third part of their total conceded goals of the season. With that terrible performance in mind, it makes sense not to have the Capitals as favorites to win this game, but they aren’t expected to have such a terrible defensive performance in the short term.
