Moroccan Wydad and UAE's Al-Ain were both overwhelmed in Group G of the Club World Cup by European giants Manchester City and Juventus. Now, both eliminated, these teams, who have never faced each other, will fight for a significant financial prize in addition to third place.

Surprisingly, in Group C, the unthinkable happened, and New Zealand's weak Auckland City salvaged a draw that will surely leave the loser of Wydad-Al-Ain as the worst of the 32 teams in the Club World Cup.

On the UAE side, Al-Ain may have erred under Serbian coach Ivic by maintaining his more typical attacking stance and not backing down more in the face of the obvious superiority of the European teams. Beyond the 5-0 and 6-0 defeats they conceded, the truly worrying fact for them is their failure to keep a clean sheet for more than 10 minutes in the first two matches.

Meanwhile, at least Wydad, through Lorch, managed to score a goal against Juventus, the first since 2000 that a Moroccan club has scored against a European club. However, they were also overwhelmed by the Serie A club.
