One of Thursday's earlier UEFA Europa League kick-offs takes place in Czechia, where Viktoria Plzen will take on German opposition in the shape of Freiburg. Despite being far from the biggest club in the competition, the hosts have enjoyed themselves in the Europa League this time around, so much so that they are currently inside the all-important top eight. They've won two and tied two, making them one of only five unbeaten teams. Not bad at all. Their recent domestic form hasn't been great, but they've definitely pulled it out of the bag on big European nights so far this season, so don't write them off here.
The German visitors have also played well in the UEL over the last couple of months. In fact, Julian Schuster's men have performed so well that they rank as the second-best team, sitting narrowly behind league-phase leaders Midtyjylland, thanks to three wins and a tie. Sure, they were humbled by Bayern at the weekend, but they were unbeaten in four prior to that, while they certainly looked like a very capable team when last in action in this competition, beating Nice away from home.
