The Vegas Golden Knights will seek a fourth consecutive victory on Friday night against the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena.
Vegas rested many of its key players on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Kings but still won a tough road game. Pavel Dorofeyev led the way with two goals in a 6-4 victory, while Tanner Laczynski stood out in a larger role with three assists.
Bruce Cassidy’s side has scored 15 goals during its three-game winning streak and will be a major threat for Washington, especially with the big guns expected to return to the lineup.
Jack Eichel, Mitch Marner, Mark Stone, Shea Theodore, and Noah Hanifin all sat out Wednesday’s game after being involved in the Olympic final on Sunday. Despite lacking firepower, the Golden Knights still scored six goals, and their work on the defensive end was also impressive, as goaltender Adin Hill faced only 19 shots.
Washington returned to action with a solid 3-1 home victory over the Philadelphia Flyers, improving to 5-1-0 over its last six games. Goaltender Logan Thompson played a vital role in a low-scoring affair, finishing with 23 saves. On Friday night, Thompson will hope to frustrate his former team, having won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Golden Knights in 2023.
