Kamilla Rakhimova of Russia will battle No.6 seed Varvara Gracheva of France in the quarterfinal of the WTA 125 Trophee Clarins on Friday.
Rakhimova has scored two clean wins to punch her ticket to the quarterfinal. The Russian pummeled Ksenia Efremova of France 6-3, 6-3 before ousting Madrid Open quarterfinalist Moyuka Uchijima of Japan 6-2 6-1 in the second round. Rakhimova has put up a 6-5 record on clay and 8-14 overall this year.
Meanwhile, Gracheva has eliminated a couple of American to enter the round of 8 at Trophee Clarin. Gracheva blasted Louisa Chirico 6-1 6-2 and outlasted Hailey Baptiste 2-6 6-4 6-3 in an entertaining three-set clash. The Frenchwoman collected 45 points off her first serves and 22 off her second to hack out the comeback.
