Tallon Griekspoor will shoot for a place in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Shanghai Masters against the upset-minded Valentin Vacherot of Monaco on Tuesday.

Griekspoor advanced to the fourth round of the 2025 Shanghai Masters with a 6-7(3) 7-5 3-2 ret. win over Jannik Sinner on Sunday. Griekspoor lost a toe-to-toe battle with Sinner in the first set, but he managed to force a decider after Sinner hurt his knee in the later stages of the second set. Sinner gallantly played through the pain in the third set until he couldn’t take the pain anymore. The reigning Wimbledon and Australian Open champion eventually decided to withdraw, giving Griekspoor the win and a place in the fourth round.
Vacherot reached his first round of 16 at an ATP 1000 event after posting five consecutive wins in Shanghai. After beating Nishesh Basvareddy and Liam Draxl in the qualifiers, Vacherot kept playing well in the main draw as he topped Laslo Djere in the first round 6-3 6-4, Alexander Bublik in the second round 3-6 6-3 6-4 and Tomas Machac 6-0 3-1 ret. Vacherot claimed three top-100 wins in a row and looks to add more when he eyes another upset over Griekspoor, who ranks No.31 in the world.
