Fresh off their 2026 NHL Winter Classic victory, the New York Rangers hope to improve their home record on Monday night against the Utah Mammoth at Madison Square Garden.
After losing three consecutive games, the Rangers impressed Friday night with a 5-1 victory over the Florida Panthers in Miami. The Blueshirts improved to 6-0-0 all-time in NHL outdoor games as Mike Zibanejad posted a Winter Classic record with five points.
Even with J.T. Miller out of the lineup, the Rangers are well-equipped up front, though offensive struggles have been an ongoing issue for the team this season. At the start of the campaign, it took Mike Sullivan’s team four home games to finally light the lamp at MSG.
The home woes have continued for the Rangers all the way into 2026, as the team has won only five outings at Madison Square Garden. With a respectable home record, the Rangers could be chasing the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Instead, they face a battle to make it into the postseason.
Utah has also enjoyed more success on the road than at home and will try to return to form on Monday night following a 1-3-0 run. The team has had a difficult time keeping pucks out of the net, and Logan Cooley’s absence has significantly impacted their offense.
