One of the more competitive games in Week 4 of the 2024 college football season will occur in Ann Arbor. Michigan, Saturday when the Wolverines host the USC Trojans. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET at Michigan Stadium.
Both teams came into the season facing a lot of uncertainty. USC struggled to an 8-5 finish last season and had a Heisman trophy winner at quarterback. Could they plug and play just as well or better with Miller Moss? And what about the other roster holes? As for Michigan, the losses were a little more significant for the defending national champs. Personnel issues aside, head coach Jim Harbaugh moved on to the NFL.
From what we’ve seen, Miller Moss may be the next great USC quarterback. Time will tell, but he’s made an excellent first impression, completing 72.7% of his passes for 600+ yards and two touchdowns. As for Michigan, the quarterback play has been inconsistent, leading to head coach Sherrone Moore announcing a change. Alex Orji would get the start against the Trojans. The junior has 12 career pass attempts, seven completions spread out over three years, 181 yards rushing, and three touchdowns.

Our Michigan Wolverines vs USC Trojans Prediction
It’s a pretty bad sign when the offense isn’t figured out heading into conference play; there are no more soft opponents to help you work out the kinks. Michigan’s best hopes will lie in Orji getting the run game on track early and keeping the Trojans' offense on the sideline. But don’t bank on it happening. While the Wolverines defense is not bad, it is not the dominant unit from last season. The pass rush will not put enough pressure on Moss, who will shred the Michigan secondary in the second half on the way to a comfortable win.
Our Prediction for USC vs. Michigan: USC -5.5
