The final Gold Cup quarter final of the weekend sees the USA take on Costa Rica at U.S. Bank Stadium. The US come into the game as strong favorites following their perfect record in the group stage. However, Sunday's game will represent their stiffest test of the tournament so far. Costa Rica have a vastly experienced squad, and as they showed in their 0-0 group stage draw against Mexico, they are an extremely tough side to break down.
The US have held the upper hand over their rivals in recent encounters, winning five of their last six matchups against Costa Rica. However, when the sides last met in a competitive fixture, it was Costa Rica that emerged victorious, winning 2-0 in a 2022 World Cup qualification match, thanks to second half goals from Juan Pablo Vargas and Anthony Contreras.

USA - Costa Rica: Form Analysis
The US were in dominant form during the group stages, scoring eight times and conceding just once in their three games. They put down a strong marker in their opening game, thrashing Trinidad and Tobago 5-0 at PayPal Park. They followed that up by edging past Saidi Arabia 1-0, before finishing off with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Haiti. Costa Rica up for the fight
Costa Rica's progress from Group A was anything but straightforward. They need a dramatic 103rd minute penalty from Manfred Ugalde to complete a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Suriname in their opening game. They also left it late on matchday two, as Josimar Alcócer's 85th minute strike gave them a 2-1 victory over the Dominican Republic. With qualification secured, Costa Rica completed the group stage with a relatively low key 0-0 draw against Mexico.

USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino is unlikely to make any changes from the side that waltzed through their group. That means Patrick Agyemang will continue to lead the US attack, with the likes of Mailk Tillman and Diego Luna providing support. Despite impressing off the bench during the group stage, attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson will likely have to once again settle for a place on the bench.
