On Friday evening, Group H will come to a close, and there’s still all to play for. Elsewhere, Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia will battle it out, but in this game, which will take place in Zapopan, Uruguay and Spain clash.
Right now, it is the Spanish in the driving seat. Following their big win over Saudi Arabia, they’re ahead in the standings and likely need just a point to top the group. Having drawn their two games, the Uruguayans need a win if they want to go through in first place, but a point would probably take them through in either second or third, though that's far from guaranteed.
Looking at the early lines, a bet on ‘Both Teams to Score’ appeals most ahead of what is an intriguing game between two nations that have won the World Cup three times between them.

Uruguay - Spain: Form Analysis

Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguayans disappointed last time out. Following what was a relatively subdued effort when tying against the Saudi’s first time out, which they could be forgiven for, the South Americans were expected to burst out of the gates and make amends against minnows Cape Verde, but that was not the case. They were behind early, and even though they went into the break in front they couldn’t get over the line, eventually tying 2-2, displaying some rather worrying defensive leaks.
Luis de la Fuente’s men improved the second time out, stepping on the gas to beat Saudi Arabia in convincing style.
The Spanish also tied with Cape Verde, doing so during the first round of games, somewhat unbelievably failing to score in the process. However, Luis de la Fuente’s men improved the second time out, stepping on the gas to beat Saudi Arabia in convincing style, which as we know, is something that the Uruguayans failed to do. They should now take to the field in Mexico feeling confident.

Uruguay & Spain Squad Analysis
Marcelo Bielsa did make a few changes after that 1-1 tie with Saudi Arabia, dropping forward Darwin Nunes to the bench ahead of the clash against Cape Verde, opting for an extra body in midfield, though that didn’t exactly pan out. Agustin Canobbi, who came in for Nunes, scored and played well, so he may start again, though the veteran boss could decide to drop Federico Vinas, who has played two games up front without scoring at this tournament.

Young star Lamine Yamal returned to the Spanish starting XI last time out, and it didn’t take the winger long to make an impact, scoring after just ten minutes. He’s expected to feature as the key man once again. Mikel Oyarzabal improved after a tepid display against Cape Verde, scoring twice, and he too is expected to start in the forward line, alongside Nico Williams, who looks set for his first start of the competition.

Our Uruguay vs Spain Prediction
We haven’t seen the Spanish concede a goal at this tournament, but they’ve not exactly come up against much in terms of offensive quality. For all the Uruguayans have not been at their best, they do have lots of quality in forward areas, while they are much more suited to playing on the break against a dominant team such as Spain.
Factor in that the Uruguayans have both scored and conceded in each of their two games at the World Cup and ‘Both Teams to Score’ starts to really appeal at odds of +100.
Our Uruguay vs Spain Pick: Both Teams to Score.
